Senator William Raggio

I said in my blogs that I would talk about people that are outstanding in our community or state, so it only is fitting that I talk about Senator William Raggio.  I was very privilege to have worked with Senator Raggio at the Governor’s Office.  We would attend many of the same events and it was always a great joy to be around him.  I am so honor to have worked and to have known such a wonderful man and Senator.  I would always see him out with his lovely wife Dale. I am so honor to have worked and to have known such a wonderful man and Senator.  Here is the a little bit about Senator Raggio.

Senator William Raggio was born in October 1926. He was a Reno High graduate(1944). He served in U.S. Naval Reserve, U.S. Marine Corps Reserve (1944-46) University of Nevada, Reno graduate (1948) and then when on to get his J.D. from the Hastings College of Law in San Francisco and Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley (1951). In 1958 is where his political career begins as Raggio is elected as the Washoe County district attorney. In 1972: Senator Raggio was elected into Nevada State Senate, a position he would hold until 2011. Senator Raggio announced that on Jan. 5, 201 he would retire from the Legislature.

Senator Raggio did so many wonderful things for Nevada.  He was very active in our community.  You would see at many events and around town.  He always had a smile on his face and would talk to anyone that would stop him to chat.  He was a great mentor to many of my colleagues.  It truly was a sad day for Northern Nevada on Friday we learned of the loss of Senator William Raggio.

Here is a link to a wonderful article that the University of Nevada, Reno wrote on Senator Raggio.
